What changes when the lights die
Sightlines collapse. Cafeteria tables and cave mouths become grab rooms. Floor loot still exists; you just find it later. iFrames when you leave the Safe Zone still exist. Spend them on a bat, not on a doorway pose. Run is still Ctrl or L3. Binds do not change — controls.
Gates close during the outage. That is the part that feels like a new map. You are not locked in a separate raid instance. You are in the same facility with doors you cannot walk. Community comments under the recap say the Signal Manipulator opens closed doors during blackout, lasts about three uses, and sits on a roughly 20-second cooldown before it disappears. Comments add that it can also appear in the Infected safe area sometimes. It is not in Human spawn. It is not a fish. It is not a diamond node.
What it does: community clips treat Hazz as the start of a specific Infected kit (Toxic Hazz / hazmat styles). Grab is still 2. Safe Zone is still lethal.

How to play the outage

After the power returns
Gates open. Normal latex, cave ore, and shop blades return to being the problem. Kill effects and Furcoins did not change. There are still no confirmed active promo codes as of September 2026. A blackout badge, if one exists on your account, does not keep the helmet spawning. Check patch notes after a rerun so you do not carry dark-room routing into a lit Overhaul cave.
